Nica Nights

Six days so far in Nicaragua.  We have been staying outside of San Juan del Sur at a nearby beach called Playa Maderas.  Hold onto your desks, hats and please don't faint but I Daniel Agustin Rodriguez have been eating vegetarian,  I said it.  VEGETARIAN.  This is not by choice and I have been refueling on meat when possible but the place we are staying at is all vegetarian cuisine.  We are staying at a new place Dream Catcher which is run by a friend of a friend and is still under construction but nice and close to the beach.  It is a very chill vibe and we have met some nice people.

Over the last 6 days it's been surfing Playa Madera which consists of a pretty heavy beach break.  I have had some great rides and some not so much.  Beach breaks are not the greatest but I have gotten myself into the barrel and caught some big waves.  I have also not caught some big waves which has led to interesting situations.   For example my first day out, the beach was maxing out in size and the waves were closing out a lot.  I made it out back and on my second wave I was flying down the face to a pending doom and had to make my exit.  So I jumped off and tried to break through the wave, which failed miserable.  Instead I was tossed with the curl and held under but in the process I felt something other than water.  Something human like.  When I surfaced there was a not so happy surfer between me and my board.  Nobody was hurt, apologies made and back out the line up.  He turned out to be kind of a jerk about it but he was in my way anyways.  Other than that incident the surf has been epic.

The size has kept laura out of the water so Friday we are leaving that beach in search for others.  We are in the process of figuring out what we want to do but it will either be a surf camp for a week or stay in San Juan and rent a car to do day trips.  The most exaggerated move would be a trip to El Salvador but we will see.  As of now Nicaragua is a cool place and cheap which is always a good mix.
